CALL FOR ENTRIES
Bambi Biennial February 2 – March 16, 2008
Jurors: Roberta Fallon & Libby Rosof of the world famous http://fallonandrosof.blogspot.com/!
Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof are Philadelphia’s premier art critics and all around great ladies who know their stuff!
Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof have been collaborating artists for 17 years. In the early days of their career they made large-scale sculptural installations out of concrete. As they got older, they (sensibly) switched to making very small paintings and books out of paper. Everything they’ve made, large or small, has elements of autobiography because basically they think they’re really interesting. And they’re not afraid of being self-absorbed.
Recently, Fallon and Rosof have been handing out art on the streets of Philadelphia under the rubric of their tongue-in-cheek Zero .1% for Art Commission. One of their public art actions was featured in Wendy Weinberg's "Art of Activism" documentary.
Fallon and Rosof are writers as well as artists. In April, 2003, they created the online journal “Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof’s Artblog,” http://fallonandrosof.blogspot.com, praised by Raphael Rubinstein in Art in America for its great writing about art and its community-spiritedness. Fallon reviews art for the Philadelphia Weekly and Rosof was the editor of the Penn Current at the University of Pennsylvania.
The artists have received several commissions for art in public spaces. They received a 2003-4 SOS grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for their book “OK Artists.” Fallon and Rosof are big on the lecture circuit because they’re so much fun. In 2006 they co-taught a senior painting studio class at Tyler School of Art. Nobody can remember who is Roberta and who is Libby. They get mail at Roberta’s house addressed to Roberta Rosof and at Libby’s house addressed to Libby Fallon. In 2006 they created the fictional character Liberta who takes over the blog occasionally.
"This year, Fallon and Rosof curated three exhibits, Dig, a show of Philadelphia artists, at H&F Fine Arts in Mt. Rainier, MD, a Philadelphia Mural Arts Program exhibition of our favorite murals, and an online exhibit."
